What goes in each column

• Required: what3words, date (DD/MM/YYYY) and, for each reading, its _method. time is optional, 24-hour (HH:MM), and is UK time: whatever the clock said when you sampled, BST in summer.
• Readings: a result below what the kit can detect goes in as <0.02; a plate or kit over its range as >300. Both are kept and flagged, not dropped.
• E. coli and coliforms are Petrifilm counts from a 1 mL plate, so cfu per mL.
• _method: how it was measured, from the list for that measurement (Meter, Hanna IRIS, Petrifilm and so on). Spelling and capitals don't matter. Anything not on the list shows in red in the preview, where you pick the right one.
• _kit_lot: the lot number on the reagent pack, so a faulty batch can be traced.
• About the visit (optional): sampled_by (initials), sampling_purpose routine / investigation / incident / event, sample_type grab / in_situ / composite, sample_material river / lake / canal / groundwater / drainage / estuary / sea / rain / effluent / minewater, flow_condition dry / low / normal / high / flood, rain_last_48h none / light / heavy.
• If tested later: analysis_date (DD/MM/YYYY), analysis_time (HH:MM) and analysed_by.
